Car Drives Off Cliff at Queenscliff

We were woken up last night at about 1:30 AM by a police helicopter, it was circling around and hovering quite low.

Apparently at the end of the street people hand claimed that a car had driven off the cliff.

This morning there were helicopters and police boats around the area looking for the car.

There was fairly large swell today and during the afternoon one of the police boats had become beached on the rocks.

A crowd gathered and news crews arrived to film the event.

Where the car had driven off the cliff there were large waves breaking on the rocks making it difficult for the police divers. Apparently one of the boats had a power issue and needed to be towed, the tow rope snapped and the boat became stuck on the rocks.

Christmas Eve

I deciced to focus on the seagulls this morning as the waves were small and mushy. One more sleep until Christmas, this year has gone by fast. There is going to be a Camel Parade today on the Corso in front of St Matthew’s Anglican Church at 2:30pm so I might go down and take some more photos this afternoon. Any hoo, Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year! In the mean time enjoy these photos I’ve selected for today’s post.

Holidays

Today is officially the first day of the Christmas holidays for me. I set my alarm last night for 5:30am and I managed to get up this morning, so I grabbed my camera and headed down for the sunrise. It’s nice and warm this morning at 24 degrees apparently going to rain later this afternoon. And for all the nerds out there that might be interested, as of last night I have converted this site over to a Jekyll blog hosted on Github pages, which means fast free hosting with version control. Feel free to check out my git repo for this site and raise a pull request ; )

Manly Beach Sydney Storm Aftermath

NSW was smashed by a huge storm this week with torrential rain and strong winds. I went down to the beach to take some photos and videos of the aftermath.

Local news reporting on the storm.

No thanks

There used to be a sand bank there until the lagoon overflowed and washed all the sand out to sea.

Try not to swallow any of that water
